The Animal Protection League of SC (APL) is a local non-profit humane organization founded in 1982 by concerned individuals who love and respect animals. 2008 Auction Date Set

Each year APL sponsors an auction to raise money for the shelter -- to help care for abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and cats and find new, loving homes for them. Items for auction are donated by individuals and local merchants each year, and include a broad range of things, such as gift certificates, jewelry, art, furniture, consumer electronics, grills, trips, etc.

 

This year's auction will be held on August 23 at Tronco's new location called Medallion Conference Center located at 7315 Garner's Ferry Road (behind Holiday Inn Express). Tickets are $35.00 per person, $60.00 for couples, and tables for eight may be purchased for $250.00. The doors open at 6:00 p.m., the silent auction begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m., then the live auction will start at 8:30 p.m. The price of the ticket includes a buffet (including vegetarian dishes) and bar with beer, wine, and soft drinks.

APL is funded solely through private donations and volunteer fundraising activities. All funds go toward animal care, either directly through food shelter and medical care, or indirectly through shelter expenses, adoption activities and other costs of operation.

APL is registered with the South Carolina Secretary of State as a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

 

The Shelter:

The APL shelter is located at 6080 Old Leesburg Road in Hopkins. Shelter hours are 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. For further information and directions, visit the Shelter Information page.
